Story
Background
In the sprawling, labyrinthine streets of the Ezdin Dregs, where the sky is often obscured by the smoke of countless factories, Zalith's story began. Born to unknown parents, she was left to fend for herself from a young age. The streets of Ezdin were harsh and unforgiving, but they shaped Zalith into a resilient and cunning survivor.
From the moment she could walk, Zalith learned the art of blending into the shadows, picking pockets, and outsmarting those who underestimated her. Her Tiefling heritage, marked by her broad, flat black horns and warm brown skin, made her a target of prejudice and fear. Yet, she used this to her advantage, cultivating a brash and harsh exterior that kept most people at bay.
Her only solace came from the occasional kindness of strangers and the camaraderie of other street urchins. It was during these formative years that she met Elvar, a tough street punk with a sharp mind and a knack for finding opportunities in the city's underbelly. Together, they navigated the treacherous world of Ezdin's criminal underworld, forming a bond that would last a lifetime.
As she grew older, Zalith's skills caught the attention of the Arrodan Syndicate, a powerful organization that controlled much of Ezdin's illicit activities. Recognizing her potential, they recruited her as a smuggler and later as a recruiter. Zalith thrived in this role, her sharp tongue and keen instincts making her an invaluable asset. She took pride in her work, especially in finding recruits who weren't "raving ediets," as she would say with her broad Scottish accent.
Despite her tough exterior, Zalith's loyalty to those she trusted was unwavering. She valued the few genuine connections she had, particularly her partnership with Elvar. Together, they worked to expand the Syndicate's influence, always staying one step ahead of the law and rival gangs.
